Over on my BlueSky, I’ve started another minor project. Every single day, I’m posting one game from my game collection. I’m leaning towards lesser-talked about titles that people may not have tried. To make things easier to digest, I’ll also be doing monthly wrap-ups of those posts here on one single page for easier viewing.
A must for card game fans. Full of dozens of hours of content. Also great way to learn Yugioh from scratch to pro level.Aesthetically strong platformer with clever mechanics and design throughout. A blast to play just to see what concepts they put out next.A manic, fast paced arena brawler game for up to four players that is always a fun play. It’s time I finally hype one of my favorite bizarre video games. A deep-meaning adventure sure to make you laugh… just have a guide open when you play it. Pure one-of-a-kinder.
A collection of mini-games, many based off of various old Taito arcade titles. Some deep cuts too. Its not great, but its interesting.
A zany puzzle game where you set up dominoes to knock over into obstacles in a sorta auto-runner… thing? Its weird. The Wario/Bomberman crossover game no one asked for and everyone forgot existed. An excellent stand alone spin-off of the Trails series that offers an excellent level-based action RPG with a wonderful world, frantic gameplay, and straight bangin’ Falcom JDK soundtrack.
A first-party Sony action title with well designed worlds and surprisingly violent cartoon action.
This game is way better than it has any right to be. And its silly seeing Simba on a skateboard…A really good port to a game a lot of people overlooked. Added some gameplay elements too.A pre-Mario 64 3d platformer. Certainly unique and quite challenging. Cool to see the early days of the genre using this as a metric.
Now for something completely different. Did you know they made a Monster Rancher card game? Well, they did. The art is mostly just screen shots from the cartoon…
A dumb, silly brawler with plenty of weapons to use and silly environmental kills.
Bonus Lunafreya.
A platformer sequel to the Genesis classic. Unique mechanics and it’s own sense of 90s ‘tude charm.A blend of dungeon diving RPG and farm simulator, with a bit more focus on story and characters. While I am more familiar with the Genesis version, this clunky and strange adventure exploration platformer is certainly a unique and oddly addicting experience…An oft-ignored LittleBigPlanet spinoff thatw actually quite good. Many interesting level gimmicks and tons of content.Place this one firmly in the “so bad, it’s hilarious” catagory. Awful action game worth it for the chuckles, especially in two player mode.A must-own Wii game that pushes the console to its limits. High octane arcade action from Treasure with wild set pieces and blazing fast shooting action.A really cool tube shooter that packs quite a challenge at times. Simple arcadey fun.I mean… it’s called “Blood Drive”, what more do you need? A vehicular combat game thats pure ridiculous zombie shredding nonesense. Oddly fun though.A cool semi-open platform adventure game. Like Zelda 2 meets Metroid. Challenging and enjoyable. The forgotten sequel in the Rush series. Not an amazing racing game, but fun to drive around in its surprisingly large open world areas. One of many arcade-y brawlers on Dreamcast worth playing with a friend for dumb fun.The most under-rated Mario game. People sleep on this one too much. Has some very clever mechanics that all build on a central theme very well. One of the must-own puzzle games on the Game Boy. Innovative for being way ahead of its time by having a rewind function for trial and error solving. It was inevitable that I’d eventually put this game on this list. A personal favorite, blending fantasy and mystery together with unique mechanics and super clever puzzle bosses all wrapped in a great aesthetic, story, and characters. One of the weirdest game collections ever released. It even has Ultima VII?!Before the modern remixes of Atari classics, they did it on DS with graffiti theming?
What if we revived classic arcade game Rygar, as a God of War clone? Bonus Wii version for the overly edgy cover art.
