Over on my BlueSky, I’ve started another minor project. Every single day, I’m posting one game from my game collection. I’m leaning towards lesser-talked about titles that people may not have tried. To make things easier to digest, I’ll also be doing monthly wrap-ups of those posts here on one single page for easier viewing.
A personal favorite on NES no one talks about. Zelda-like but level based. Challenging but approachable and tons of fun to play.A quirky stunt-racing game with creative and fun level design. Great pick up and play goodness. The hardest FromSoft game. Only true gamers can beat this one. Grab a friend and GIT FUCKING GUD.A brilliantly written adventure game with tons of funny dialogue and likable characters.
Easy to write off as a license milker, but there are worse ways to play Panel de Pon than this.
A must-own for Dreamcast. Grab a friend and rush headlong into this game and prepare to laugh and fist-pump through silly hype nonsense. A true video game ass video game.
A fun albeit BS hard top down shooter action game. Absorb enemy robots as power ups and rescue people. Unique control scheme, better with a friend. Kinda ass and madly hard but enjoyable enough. One of the most “why does this exist?!” licensed games ever made. A weird one for sure. Not great, but not totally awful either? Certainly worth it just because its fascinating.Since a remaster was just announced. Here is a hybrid shmup and top down exploration RPG action game. Unique and tough, but fun.Its the 69th day of the year so… (Note: Do not buy or play The Guy Game it literally is underage porn. Also its bad.)I’m not a Disney guy, but I loved this game. A fun and surprisingly clever semi-open platform adventure game with some cool mechanics and concepts.
A ridiculous concept and oddly enjoyable. Plus you get to shove a wiimote up a baby’s backside.
A decent revival of the arcade classic. Even more fun with a arcade stick peripheral.A real fun physics puzzler that’s a blast to play against friends. Also yes, that is Spielberg’s name attached. One of the better licensed platformers on the NES. Decent challenge too.Warioware-esque minigame collection. But somehow more weird?Simple, cute Game Boy platformer that wasn’t released in the west until recently. Charming and clever. You know what hockey needs? Piledrivers and clotheslines! NFL Blitz-style hockey game with arcadey fun and random wrestling moves. Clunky but amusing.Part block breaking puzzle game, part shmup. This arcade port is one of my favorite GB games, even if I’m awfully at it and never get that far.You can kill a dude, grab his skull, and fling it at his buddy. That’s pretty much all you need to know.
An enjoyable open world action game absolutely slathered in Akira Toriyama charm. It’s just nice to be in this world with these characters.
The best Zelda game not featuring Link! Compelling story and clever puzzles. Also ridiculously hard towards the end.A follow-up to Nintendo’s Joust-like Balloon Fight, now a level based… platformer? Float ’em up? Whatever, it’s unique and fun.Unique first person sword combat mixed with recognizable SMT styling. Short, sweet, challenging.A peculiar adventure game oozing with atmosphere, stilted and hilarious B-grade acting, and tons of charm. A must play for the surreal experience.A really fun Metroidvania with some solid writing for it’s story and excellent characters.A silly and charming creature-management game from Rare. Relaxing and funny in equal measure.Vanillaware’s excellent tactical game loaded with deep customization and style. Story is… there? But an excellent game regardless.A quirky, floaty 2.5d platformer loaded with late 90s ‘tude but a blast to run through.Ah yes, a tactical war… pinball game. The Gamecube was a strange time. Amusing game though!A charming Zelda-esque adventure game with fun characters and laugh-out-loud moments.
